The Making of Big Red

When you drive through Christmas Ranch the first thing you will notice is Big Red, our very large Reindeer. You may wonder how we made him so here is the story.

Big Red's life started one Christmas  as part of a display at Willowbrook Mall. He spent a couple Christmases there until his gig was over and was donated to Salvation Army. He sat there for a few years in a hot warehouse, where he was brought out occasionally during the Christmas season. One day an employee from that Salvation Army store stopped by the Christmas Ranch and told us of their large reindeer.

We went and visited the store and knew he would be perfect for our display. So one day we rented a large u-haul and went to go pick him up. It took multiple store employees and and few onlookers to load him into the uhaul, but he fit just fine.

When he arrived at the Christmas Ranch the fun part began. As he came in multiple parts we had to use our lift to put him together.

We lifted his body and proceeded to attach his legs, head and antlers. The whole process took a little over 3 hours.

Once he was up, he was immediately loved by all our visitors. We hosted a naming contest on Facebook and he officially became Big Red. We are glad that you have came to love him as much as we have.
